No. Scripts are perfectly happy on their own

Many screenplays, such as one-off spec features or short scripts, do not need to be in a Folder at all - they stand on their own, and they will sit in your Screenplays list whether they are in a folder or not.

Folders start earning their keep when you have enough scripts that you want to find one quickly, or when a group of them belongs together:

• Episodes of the same series, so the whole run is in one place
• Scripts of a kind, if you write across several genres
• Scripts at the same stage, so you can see at a glance what is out with producers and what is still being written

There is a second reason, too. Attachments and media can be added to a Folder itself, not only to an individual screenplay - so a series bible, a pitch deck or a set of location photographs that belongs to the whole group has somewhere sensible to live.

You can move a script into a folder, or back out of it, at any time. Nothing about the script changes when you do.
